Finding just one of these lights seldom happens, finding 21 is beyond amazing.
If you looked at the pictures and didn't read the 1940 Goodrich Catalog Pages, I suggest you go back and do it, it's a fun read, very informative,.. you gotta love it.
These lights have illuminated an old church library for the last 75 years.
(The equivalent of a used car being driven by a little old lady to church and back). The condition is remarkable. I only had to wipe them down with a damp cloth. Most, but not all of the original factory decals are at least partially present. While the condition of these lights is outstanding,
they are not perfect
. Most of the very thin edges have some very minor porcelain loss. Some may have an additional chip or two etc.....nothing bad at all, look at the pictures, they are exceptional.
The light's purpose was to illuminate stock aisles with shelves on either side, while shielding eyes from glare and direct the light both to the sides and up. I feel the words "rare" and "scarce" are overused on eBay....but in this case....well.....what can I say?
The light was disassembled, cleaned inspected and re-wired.
The shade is about 12 inches by 9 inches. From the bottom of the light to the point the pipe enters the collar is about 12 inches. Total from bottom to the ceiling is 18 inches The light was photographed with a 6" galvanized rod and a newer swivel hanger. The hanger helps to prevent bumps and bruises if accidentally struck.
