1839 U. S. LARGE CENT (BOOBY HEAD)

Description

This is an 1839 (N-6)  U. S. Large Cent (Booby Head). Obverse has sharp rims/dentils on right half and weak peripherals on left side. Stars are fully outlined and show depth w/ inner details on right side. Date and LIBERTY are bold. Portrait is fully outlined w/ light wear on high points. Base of T in LIBERTY is embedded in hair above ear. Curl left of ear has a distinct deep gap in it's center, which looks like the spade symbol on a deck of playing cards, pointing left. This is typical for N-6 and not a dig or damage! Facial features are sharp w/ deep beaded braids and curl details. Hair above brow, ear, top of head, and curls have wear on high points, as well.
Reverse has sharp rims/dentils from 9:00 to 5:00. From 5:00 to 9:00 the perpherals are weak w/ faint dentils and weak letters UNI in UNITED and CA in AMERICA. Rest of legend letters are strong to sharp. Wreath is fully outlined w/ light wear on high points. Top leaves have some inner detail. Bow is strong and well defined. Patches of dryness are present, as shown.
