    Description

US Gen3 MONTERO CABIN AIR FILTER
Fits all USA spec, left hand drive, Gen3 (2001-2006) Mitsubishi Montero models.
The search is over - these are the only cabin air filters we've ever found that actually fit US spec Gen3 Monteros without needing to cut or modify any part of the filter and that attach securely with 2 screws, one on each side. For some reason, probably to save costs, Mitsubishi did not equip US versions of the Montero with Cabin Air Filters even though overseas versions of the Montero did get this feature and despite the fact that the blower motor box is set up to accept a cabin air filter with one small modification (see instructions below). As such, you might have noticed how dusty and smelly the interior of a Montero can get from outside air.
These units feature activated charcoal for enhanced filtering of odor and harmful fumes.
Recommended service life: 10,000 miles regular use, 5,000 miles severe use (lots of dusty offroad trails)

*NOTE - Your US Gen3 will need to be modified to accept a cabin air filter but this is a very easy modification that only takes a few minutes. There are reference photos in this listing and you can find several instructional forum how to guides by searching online. Basically, you just need open the lower glove box so that it hangs down completely open, remove one bolt holding a metal bracket that is in the way on the right side, and then cut out the rectangular filter opening in the blower box. The rectangle opening is already indented so all you have to do is follow the lines with a dremel tool or even a sharp utility knife. Then you just slide the cabin air filter in (Arrow pointing down) and secure it with two screws into the existing holes (screws not included).
*This part is for the Full Size Montero, NOT the Montero Sport
