This coin is part of the U.S. Mint's tribute to the 200th anniversary of President Lincoln's birth and the 100th anniversary of the first issue of the Lincoln cent. Four different one-cent coins were produced, each with a unique reverse that depicted a significant segment of Lincoln's life. The four types were minted in both business strike and proof strike. The proof strikes are of the same composition, bronze, as the original 1909 cents. The coin being offered has a brilliant, red surface on both obverse and reverse sides. The cameo devises contrast beautifully with the highly mirrored fields.
It is displayed in a holder with a special label used only for the bicentennial cents.
