Filament rubbing against plastic will cause the filament to get caught on the plastic.  Even just a second of the filament not progressing smoothly is enough to ruin your 3D print.
This frictionless ball bearing filament guide eliminates the possibility of snagging.  By rotating as the filament progresses, the filament is no longer rubbing on plastic, so it will not snag.
