    Description

    Last offers on my DVDs...
These have been a rewarding projects, but time to wrap up the development and sales for the foreseeable future. Increasing limited hand mobility=hard to process. : (
By the end of 2020, I expect to be out of inventory of all my approximately 45 DVDs, both of contemporary railroading as shot on VHS in the 1980s-90s and the USDA Aerial compilations.
    Illinois Central Freeport Division
    Portage - Freeport, IL Segment
1939-1947 Aerial Motion 2 hour DVD
2 hour DVD tracing the IC's line from Dubuque, Iowa and the trackage with CB&Q and CGW to Portage, Illinois where the Freeport Division diverges and heads to Galena. This first part of the DVD actually traces  3 railroads an once and at Galena, we see the CNW line coming from Platteville and Hazel Green, Wisconsin.
All of these other lines are available on separate DVDs within our larger library of titles. See Other Items for Sale!
Continuing past Galena as we describe the Eastbound version (DVD has both East and West journeys) we follow the Galena River's East Fork to Council Hill Station.
The ROW takes many curves and there are several fills in this "driftless" area of Illinois.
Just before Scales Mound, the ""Citizen's Cemetery" is visisble with the smaller Holy Trinity Cemetery across the road.
Two strings of rail cars are parked at Scales Mound with a cut for a grade crossing on the East side of town.
Some maps show Law's Siding just West of Apple River, but on this July day 80 years ago, there are no trains at the location.
Cross-referencing each mile with topographical and plat maps of the era, we see a trackside quarry before Apple River.
Library of Congress images from plat maps and some real photos are included in an Extra Features chapter of the DVD (as seen in the Photos gallery for this listing).
At Warren, we clearly see the Milwaukee Road branch from Gratiot and Mineral Point, Wisconsin entering from the NorthWest. These SW Wisconsin MILW branches are also availale on DVD at this link; https://www.ebay.com/itm/222844030701?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
Waddam's Grove, Lena and Eleroy are seen before we reach West Junction at Freeport where the IC's Madison Division diverges (also availble on separate DVD;  https://www.ebay.com/itm/223228424522?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649)
In the Extra Features chapter, a large view of Freeport, Illinois is provided and the IC "Gruber" Line, MILW from Rockton to Kittredge and CNW from Pecatonica and Rockford, Illinois clearly identified.
    Here is a video preview via Youtube of the Portage-Scales Mound segment;

With no narration or music, audio is a subtle soundtrack of railcars slowly traversing jointed rail.
