, a privately sponsored photographer’s freight train, ran on an unusual 2-day excursion that covered the entire line from
Chama

New Mexico

Antonito

Colorado
. Led by Baldwin-built 2-8-2 Mikado locomotive #488, the train with its vintage freight equipment tackled the four percent grade from Chama to
Cumbres
Pass
at an elevation of 10,015-feet and then continued east to Antonito. Stops were scheduled to allow photographers ample opportunity to capture fantastic run-bys at the most scenic spots, with plenty of smoke, whistles, and steam.
