, Illinois off the Chicago & North Western SI (Southern Illinois) Line on a ferry move to Wisconsin.
-Eastbound hotshot TOFC train with GP50 #5099 through Nelson.
-Another C&NW eastbound under a bridge just west of Dixon on a curve.
-Burlington Northern double stack train visibly crests a small hill near Chana, ILL.
-Rochelle, Illinois diamonds (before the Railroad Park)- C&NW with an SD45 in the consist. BN tiger stripe unit w/fuel tender.
-Nighttime at Nelson- EastBound C&NW; long approach sequence w/GP50 # 5050
-From my home's frontporch near Nelson (across from NJ interlocking) EB C&NW freight w/ a Union Pacific GE unit.
-Sterling ILL on the land bridge along the Rock River- WestBound C&NW highballs past.
-Mendota, ILL EB through the downtown curves; Amtrak's California Zephyr with F40's.
-Zearing ILL- freight with cabless "B" unit (A-B-A), LMX sharks, WB Amtrak at 79mph, 2 mile+ pacing sequence with another A-B-A consist, pacing LMX sharks leading.
-Pacing EB C&NW near nelson SD60 and unidentified switch engine in consist. Great sequence high up on a trackside hill at NJ interlocking of roadfreight mainline switching- meet sequence w/SOO runthrough, C&NW SD45, C&NW 800 series engine (GP40?), and a NW caboose.
-Fall/Winter- great atmosphere; quiet and crisp- light engines switching at Nelson.
-Nelson ILL yard (along SI line) short sequence pacing consist w/ UP GE units.
-Stratford, Il- WB BN
-Nelson trackside- EB C&NW at dusk
-Freeport ILL- Chicago Central & Pacific- Wallace Yard- 5 (five) ex IC/ICG Geeps start an EB coal train- great sounds of 5 567's going through the notches as they leave town.
-Same EB CC&P coal train meets a WB between Freeport and Rockford, Il.
-CC&P Rockford local and caboose return to Wallace.
-North of Forreston Il, at ex-Milwaukee Road/IC overpass- WB SOO line hotshot w/ ex MILW units passes under IC bridge- great dusk sequence.
-Quad Cities/Rock Island Davenport, IA- Silvis Yard- dozens of Rock Island GE units await disposition- w/ heavyweight cars, MOW, cabooses also in the yard.
-Davenport IA- at restored depot downtown along the Mississippi- DRI&NW (Davenport Rock Island & Northwestern short line) SW unit passes with local traffic followed by BN local with same.
-Near Erie Il (where former CB&Q/BN 4 lines met)- freight takes the curve in dreary damp and moody lite Illinois rainfall.
-Near Nelson from my front door- two eastbounds and boxcar derail at NJ interlocking on main 2 as another freight passes. The crew walks back to see a long box car tipped away (luckily) from the passing train on the other track.
-Shots of clean-up and a few trains delayed back in Nelson (including leased Paducahbilt ex-Mopac units w/C&NW heralds).
-Rochelle BEFORE THE RAILROAD PARK

Streator IL, AT&SF coming off Conrail from the east. SF F45- Kodachrome unit- Run through executive cars on intermodal train- Southwest Chief station stop at Streator- Conrail steel coil train westbound crossing the diamonds. SantaFe GP30 and AT&SF cupola caboose.

These are the highlights and best/rarest catches of each of these years. Plenty of surprises and I was the only railfan present in almost each scene (aside from Rochelle
before
the Railroad Park). No audio of clicking shutters or people talking.
No Reserve on Auction-type listings! Well shot and edited by professional broadcaster in the 1980s.
Newly transferred to DVD with time base correction etc.
Theres lots of bright crisp video from all seasons and good audio of horns, engines, jointed rail, etc. What you won't see is also interesting; no ditch lights for instance, crews without safety vests, vintage automobiles, no cell phones.
