To professional flutists the name Wm S Haynes needs no introduction. Arguably the world's finest makers of handmade silver flutes.
This flute is a Commercial model with a traditional scale and conventional closed holes and a C foot.
Serial number 10174 places the date of
manufacture to 1928. Beautifully cared for by a single owner since the 1950's. The condition was excellent when we received it. There are no dents, scratches or signs of previous repairs. No tool marks. The condition is practically mint. Just overhauled using high end Pisoni pads and new corks and felts.
The sounding length is 23 9/16" or 599 mm. It plays at about A=441 with the head pushed in and can easily be played at A=440. The sound is supple and velvety which can only be felt on a solid sterling silver instrument. What a beautiful luscious tone. It plays with an even and effortless response in every register.

The original Haynes double case is included as well as the vinyl zipper cover, a wood cleaning stick and button hole cleaning cloth. We carefully pack every instrument and the keys will be wrapped in cling tape to hold the adjustments in shipping.
